Srinagar, Sep 01 (KNO): The 54th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in collaboration with the Wildlife Department, conducted a tree plantation drive at Dachigam National Park here under the ‘Ek Ped Desh Ke Naam’ campaign.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that under the ongoing national campaign ‘Ek Ped Desh Ke Naam’, officers and jawans of the 54th Battalion CRPF, in collaboration with Wildlife Range Officers, conducted a tree plantation drive in the Fishery area of Dachigam National Park.
He said the initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from force personnel and wildlife department officials to promote environmental conservation. The drive was led by 54 Bn Second-in-Command Jagdev Singh Yadav, DC Anil Thakur, and ACs Ashwani Kumar and Hanuman Singh Yadav.
Additionally, Wildlife Range Officer Rayees Ahmad Reshi, along with other forest officials, commandos of QAT 5B, 54 Bn, and personnel of the 54th Battalion, joined the event.
Addressing the gathering, Jagdev Singh Yadav highlighted the importance of planting trees in view of the challenges posed by global warming. He stressed that protecting the environment is the need of the hour to ensure a secure future for coming generations and urged everyone to plant and nurture at least two trees in their lifetime.
Concluding his address, Yadav raised the slogan: “Suraksha ka Sankalp hamara, Hara bhara ho paryavaran sara.” The participants also took a pledge to protect and maintain the newly planted saplings. —(KNO)
